Our Story

Wine For the People produces traditional wines in a new frontier from grape to glass.

Experience a new generation of Texas wine from Winemaker Rae Wilson. One of few female winemakers in Texas, Rae Wilson is a food & wine industry veteran based in the Texas Hill Country. Her journey from sommelier to winemaker took her from Napa Valley to Portugal and many cellars in between. Rae founded Wine For the People in 2010, released her flagship vintage of Dandy Rosé in 2014, and expanded with La Valentía wines in 2019. Utilizing sustainable farming, and minimal intervention winemaking, Wine For the People is dedicated to exploring true Texas terroir.

Wine For The People

We landed on the name Wine for the People to portray our invitation to experience wine in an open, nonjudgmental setting. With our events and wine tasting experiences we strive to offer a sense of community, inclusivity, and access. We look forward to welcoming you to our table.

“People often feel overwhelmed or intimidated by wine. Making wine more accessible in any setting is really important to me. Winemaking is a fascinating process, one I find endlessly interesting. We can talk about the details of origin, history, and climate, but enjoying wine can also be as simple as ‘Do you like it? Great!’. You don’t have to study it or know a secret language to have a full experience.” – Rae Wilson

The Wine Brands

DANDY WINES

The flagship brand and our first love. Dandy Rosé is a still dry rosé made from traditional Southern French varieties, while its sparkling counterpart, Dandy Bubbles, has its own unique character and charm. The soul of this brand is unpretentious and playful, and the wine presents an approachable introduction to Texas Rosé.

LA VALENTIA

Inspired by Rae’s grandmother and embodying the spirit of courageous women, this label allows us to explore the rich and diverse terroir of Texas through elegant, limited-production wines perfect for celebrating and cellaring. In the spirit of community and collaboration, our unique label designs are paper collage prints from Austin artist Katy Schmader.

Andrew Sides

Co-Founder, COO & Winegrower

A native of the Texas High Plains, ANDREW SIDES’ path in winemaking began while working at the family farm (vineyard) alongside Uncle Andy Timmons during his high school summer breaks. After earning his degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech, Andrew took a 9-5 job in San Antonio but couldn’t resist being pulled back toward the passion he’d cultivated for growing and making wine. In 2012, Andrew and Andy partnered with Troy Ottmers, Andrew’s father-in-law, to launch Lost Draw, a winery focused on growing and sharing wines from the Texas High Plains. Since then, the Lost Draw portfolio has expanded to feature wines from several other Texas AVAs and has captured the attention of local and national press along with many adoring fans.
