Wine For the People is committed to cultivating community through wine culture and events with a greater impact. We see art in connecting to each other and the beauty we can make from the earth with our own hands. We believe it is important for a wine to have a sense of place, as it is to contribute to our own sense of place in Austin and the larger world.
Rae Wilson, Founder, Winemaker, Sommelier
Rachel ‘Rae’ Wilson has over 20 years in the food/wine industry including 5 years at Schlafly Brewery in her hometown of Saint Louis, Missouri. Later, working in more wine-focused environs, she learned winemaking while working in cellars in Napa Valley, Europe and the Texas Hill Country. She now bases herself in Austin, Texas and continues to consult for local and international business.
She holds an advanced certification from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) and is a certified sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers. She's contributing to the burgeoning Texas wine industry, and is regularly featured in industry publications. She currently has two production projects- Dandy Rosé & The Grower Project, and established a vineyard in the Texas Hill Country in 2015. Through a wide range of experience, she grew a passion for bridging gaps, and created Wine For the People in 2010 offering both industry & consumer-focused services.
Sisi Berry, Operations Coordinator, Sommelier
Sisi Berry began her journey as a biology major turned wine chemist, as she found herself studying biochemistry after picking up a job in wine production during college. Continuing her education in viticulture & enology in Spain, she gained experience doing lab & cellar work in Penedés, Bierzo, Mallorca, Ribera del Duero, and Priorat. While there, she certified as a sommelier, and upon her return to the U.S, she was accepted to UC Davis. She found Wine For the People in 2014 and quickly made herself indispensable, taking on a wide range of responsibilities. When not taking over the world with her wine talents, she runs a catering & events company, Mi Paella, and plays music with her band, Torino Black.
